Space Junk; Eliminate it Now

Author: Lance Winslow

For future space exploration we have to worry about many things such as radiation. But there are now man-made problems in space too. You see, space Junk is a huge problem and there needs to be new protocols to keep it to a minimum. All Nations with space programs and commercial space enterprises must agree on this if they are operating in areas above very low-Earth orbits.

Low orbit space debris will find its way back into the atmosphere and burn up, however we do have tons of space debris up there now. Currently there are telemetry space tracking systems on Earth tracking space debris and we know where it is, well most of it.

When we use to race on the motorcycle street racing events all bikes had to be wired so no bolts or debris could come off and no oil would be leaked onto the track in case of an accident and there were many. Something along this lines of potential protocols need to be developed and each company should have a plan in place for this.

KISS of course, but still if they are launching satellites, space craft, orbiting telescopes, whatever, well we need to be certain stuff is not going to fall off and become high powered bullets waiting for a target to hit by remote chance, as that could ruin your whole day indeed. We must eliminate Space Junk now and prevent the littering of our local space area with debris, which could kill someone. So consider all this in 2006.
